SIP URI Transfer Setup

SIP URI call forwarding allows your clinic's phone system to route calls directly to your AI agent over the internet, bypassing traditional phone lines. This is the preferred method if your system or PBX (Private Branch Exchange) supports SIP-based call routing.

What You Need

  • A PBX or VoIP phone system that supports SIP URI dialing or call forwarding.
  • Access to your telecom provider's admin portal or configuration interface.
  • The SIP URI address for your AI agent (provided by us, e.g., sip:clinic123@voice.dentalflo.ai).

Setup Steps

Step 1: Confirm SIP URI Support

Check with your IT team or telecom provider to confirm your system supports:

  • SIP URI dialing (e.g., sip:clinic123@voice.dentalflo.ai)
  • SIP trunk configuration with URI-based routing
  • Outbound and/or internal call forwarding to SIP addresses

Step 2: Configure Call Forwarding Rule

Depending on your setup, configure forwarding as follows:

  • Cloud PBX (RingCentral, Cisco, Avaya, etc.)

    1. Go to Inbound Rules or Call Handling Settings.
    2. Choose the phone number or extension to forward.
    3. Select Forward to SIP Address.
    4. Enter the SIP URI we provide (e.g., sip:clinic123@voice.dentalflo.ai).
  • SIP Trunk Configuration (Advanced)

    1. Update your SIP trunk dial plan to recognize our SIP domain.
    2. Add a routing rule that forwards calls to the agent with your clinic's identifier.

Step 3: Test the Connection

  • Place a test call to your main clinic number.
  • Confirm the call reaches your AI agent.
  • Verify the original caller's number (CLI) appears in the AI interface.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Call not connecting? Ensure SIP traffic is allowed through your firewall/router.
  • Caller ID shows the clinic number? Ask your provider to pass the original CLI in the SIP headers.
  • Audio issues? Open media (RTP) ports and confirm NAT traversal is configured correctly.
